Spring Anime Season

As I wait for more One Piece it's time to start the Spring Season. And, while the pickings are certainly better than Winter Season, for now, there are only a couple series that have stirred my interest.

Vampire Knight  - Looks pretty. Not that I expected anything else after reading the manga. (The manka makes DAMN pretty stuff.) And for the most part it looks like it's off to a pretty good start. Plus it's vampires being sexy. What fangirl can say no to that?

Special A -  Isn't particularly special per say quite yet. But it seems to be the obliitory shojou school love comedy for the season... and the fact that I've heard it being referenced to Kare Kano is enough to get me watching the first couple episodes.

Nabari no Oh -  Was sorta a wild card. Meh ok. But not wonderfully interesting. Still, I might wait a month or so and watch a couple episodes together then redecide my opinion.

Soul Eater - HOLY CRAP! I think I may have found my new favorite series. Watch it. Seriously. This means you. Within the time it took for me to get addicted to the opening theme I've hunted down all the scanlations and with the promise of the series being more than cramming a lot into a mere 26 episodes I am now buckled down for what has the potential to be an awesome, awesome ride.

Slayers 4th Season

Holy crap... I think my inner fangirl just had a heart attack of joy.

and if that wasn't enough joy

I may be one of the many fangirls who's anime roots started from watching the butchered DIC version of Sailor Moon in the early mornings. But I consider Slayers to be the series that gave me the swift kick in the direction of otakudom in general. As such, our ragtag band of heroes will always be one of my favorites. And Xellos remains as one of my most favorite characters of all time.

I can only hope that they'll get the original VA's back together for the series. Akira Ishida is love.

Anime in the Library

After much waiting it seems that the library has finally gotten around to the train of thought that 'hey, if we're trying to make programing that's more teen oriented why not try anime?'

You mean like us lowly pages suggested months ago? Yeah...duh.

But regardless I figure this is cause for some celebration. I mean, after all, anime --> big projector screen who wouldn't be happy.

Then, after being overlooked for the past couple weeks, (and becoming slightly doubtful that this whole thing is going in the right direction when the person running the thing can't pronounce 'Nausicca') the lowly page finally got through to the Teen Librarian and asked the all important question:

"So what are you going to show for the anime night?"

"Well...I'm not really up to date on things... but I have this sampler dvd...and I have the FullMetal Alchemist movie"

God. *Facepalm* This was the kinda thing I was trying to keep from happening when I offered my help weeks ago. But nooo don't listen to the person who's on the bottom of the library food chain. Regardless of the fact that yeah, you know the only time I've taken off work that hasn't been for an emergency has been to go to Cons. (And, yes, that is a multiple)

So... politely:

"Well, if I may give my advice..." *hint hint nudge nudge* "There is a little series called Death Note I'd highly recommend."

You know educational in the use of Christ symbolism and the fact that well people can get the manga at the library?!

And thus I got the go ahead to bring a couple disks that I felt would be applicable for the showing

...Though, if he's planning to show stuff in the dubbed format, I may just have my brain implode. Hopefully I can push for the 'educational' factor of showing things in their original japanese audio.

Ah well, at the very least it will only be this once, (cause once I switch library branches I am outta there!) and with any luck it will give the idea a push in the right direction and turn more innocent victims into raving otaku...and just maybe even turn some more people onto the fact that there's more out there than what you find on tv and most of it is a hell of a lot better too.
