How things ought not to be (aka laments of cosplay as Con looms near)
While pain for cosplay is sorta the name of the game when you're dressing up in unusual outfits -shoes- and go walking around for hours -in shoes- and spend most of the day on your feet - which then die on you cause of your SHOES. But, the one common factor for all is the fact that the pain usually happens after, amidst, and/or during random acts of last minute putting together of the cosplay.
And not usually during the actually production of the cosplay unless you manage to stab yourself with the pens, seam ripper, or the sewing machine itself... but I digress....
So...Did something stupid today.
Little white neighbor dog came over and picked a fight with my little tan - and looking incredibly dorky in his little black, moose embellished sweater - dog. Neighbor dog realizes it's losing the fight and goes tearing off through the woods in the backyard and my dog decides to take chase. And all I could think to do was to lunge at my dog before the squirt managed to run off and have fun getting himself lost.
End result? My dog STILL ran off and I found myself suddenly in a good deal of pain.
As far as I can guess I sprained my thumb, not at the tip but the base joint where thumb meets hand. (Typing is a tad difficult as I avoid the urge to press spacebar with the wrong thumb) It spent most of today wrapped. I can still move it. Which is good. As of this evening I can almost touch my pinky with my thumb again...which is also good considering I couldn't hardly move it this morning. But finer motor skills? Yeah...currently lacking.
So take all the sewing I still need to get done before Frinday and give it a gentle shot to the head to put it out of its misery.
Bites.
I'm not too panicking cause I do have a back-up (or two). But bites. On the other hand... all is not lost. Next Gasukan is going to see an uber-suped up cosplay.
