Very Belated Sakura-Con 08 Fangirling

Because SakuraCon was just so awesome I think I must rank it in the top three most awesome events. So here we go.

Awesome Event 1)

Rather proud of myself that I got 3rd Place in a 'Name That Anime Tune' contest. Particularly with the fact that a good deal of the music was out of my genre of what I watch and for the most part it was background music. And there was NO One Piece! (And I kept failing spectacularly at their warped version of rock paper scissors.) Though, of my winnings, the song that I felt most pleased with getting right, and had me jumping around like a crazy person raising my hand, was Romeo x Juliet's OP Inori ~ You Raise Me Up by Lena Park. (Yes, put a song on repeat for many of the hours it took for the bus to get from here and AX and just about anyone can recognize it in under three seconds.) The judge in particular gave me a dirty look cause 'it was supposed to be the HARD one that no one got' and here I'd gotten a rare all three points possible.

Awesome Event 2)

I got to glomp a Xellos. A well done male Xellos, at that. Multiple times. On my birthday. Nuff said.

Awesome Event 3)

Probably something of a three way tie between watching This is Otakudom in a group, most of whom admitted being able to quote lines to their friends, watching AMV Hell 4 in an UBER big group, there was something oh so satisfying about watching the 'In the Navy' clip while in Marine cosplay, or the AMV Contest, because this year most everything was really good. And if the Cosplay Skits had had more awesomeness then the highlight of a poketrainer throwing a rock at a pokemon ( 'How have you been catching your pokemon?' ) it probably would have ranked in here too.

And, on a parting note, my Marine cosplay is far too comfortable. It really is probably a bad sign for my sanity that I feel so natural wearing it.

Post-Con Crash

Sakura-Con was awesome. I'll be most happy to elaborate on this...once my brain catches up to the rest of me.

Sleep calls.

Tingling with Anticipation

Ah, SakuraCon 08 how the excitement grows.

Cosplay Lineup...all One Piece as the case would be

+ Marine w/ Enis Lobby Flag
     + Marine Captain
+ Coby (Post Enis Lobby version)

I'm all the more excited as my birthday falls on the 29th, right smack in the middle of the Con. XD! Cheesefactory birthday dessert here I come!

How things ought not to be (aka laments of cosplay as Con looms near)

While pain for cosplay is sorta the name of the game when you're dressing up in unusual outfits -shoes- and go walking around for hours -in shoes- and spend most of the day on your feet - which then die on you cause of your SHOES. But, the one common factor for all is the fact that the pain usually happens after, amidst, and/or during random acts of last minute putting together of the cosplay.

And not usually during the actually production of the cosplay unless you manage to stab yourself with the pens, seam ripper, or the sewing machine itself... but I digress....

So...Did something stupid today.

Little white neighbor dog came over and picked a fight with my little tan - and looking incredibly dorky in his little black, moose embellished sweater - dog. Neighbor dog realizes it's losing the fight and goes tearing off through the woods in the backyard and my dog decides to take chase. And all I could think to do was to lunge at my dog before the squirt managed to run off and have fun getting himself lost.

End result? My dog STILL ran off and I found myself suddenly in a good deal of pain.

As far as I can guess I sprained my thumb, not at the tip but the base joint where thumb meets hand. (Typing is a tad difficult as I avoid the urge to press spacebar with the wrong thumb) It spent most of today wrapped. I can still move it. Which is good. As of this evening I can almost touch my pinky with my thumb again...which is also good considering I couldn't hardly move it this morning. But finer motor skills? Yeah...currently lacking.

So take all the sewing I still need to get done before Frinday and give it a gentle shot to the head to put it out of its misery.

Bites.

I'm not too panicking cause I do have a back-up (or two). But bites. On the other hand... all is not lost. Next Gasukan is going to see an uber-suped up cosplay.

Joy, Cosplay, and Anime Expo '08

Yea! I got my confirmation of registration email for AX this morning!

...So not fair to be in school and supposed to be working when your on an anime fangirl high...

Now, I just gotta figure out the details for hotel and transportation and cosplay. More than anything I want to be able to get down there and be booked in a place where I can roll out of bed and into the convention chaos. Being too far to walk to the hotel is not fun. I'd forgotten this being spoiled with doing KumoriCon and Sakura Con and being right down the block.

And this year I have every intention of spending the entire con IN cosplay rather than having my feet die on me after a couple hours in cosplay boots. >.<!!!

Now if I could only figure out what to wear.

While I do have Sumomo's magic girl outfit started up (Nanatsuiro Drops)... motivation is lacking. However, doing Cisqua's Arc Aile uniform (Erementar Gerad) sounds far more appealing at the moment. (I'll admit it. The prospect of big gun excites me! XD!) Or even Nozomi (Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 3) looks like it could be fun.

In any case, I'll need something in addition to my One Piece marine garb for SakuraCon. With AX still a ways a way it allows for plotting time.
