Very Belated Sakura-Con 08 Fangirling
Because SakuraCon was just so awesome I think I must rank it in the top three most awesome events. So here we go.
Awesome Event 1)
Rather proud of myself that I got 3rd Place in a 'Name That Anime Tune' contest. Particularly with the fact that a good deal of the music was out of my genre of what I watch and for the most part it was background music. And there was NO One Piece! (And I kept failing spectacularly at their warped version of rock paper scissors.) Though, of my winnings, the song that I felt most pleased with getting right, and had me jumping around like a crazy person raising my hand, was Romeo x Juliet's OP Inori ~ You Raise Me Up by Lena Park. (Yes, put a song on repeat for many of the hours it took for the bus to get from here and AX and just about anyone can recognize it in under three seconds.) The judge in particular gave me a dirty look cause 'it was supposed to be the HARD one that no one got' and here I'd gotten a rare all three points possible.
Awesome Event 2)
I got to glomp a Xellos. A well done male Xellos, at that. Multiple times. On my birthday. Nuff said.
Awesome Event 3)
Probably something of a three way tie between watching This is Otakudom in a group, most of whom admitted being able to quote lines to their friends, watching AMV Hell 4 in an UBER big group, there was something oh so satisfying about watching the 'In the Navy' clip while in Marine cosplay, or the AMV Contest, because this year most everything was really good. And if the Cosplay Skits had had more awesomeness then the highlight of a poketrainer throwing a rock at a pokemon ( 'How have you been catching your pokemon?' ) it probably would have ranked in here too.
And, on a parting note, my Marine cosplay is far too comfortable. It really is probably a bad sign for my sanity that I feel so natural wearing it.
